Paris - streets

If you haven't heard about it then you haven't been in Paris. The new public bicycle scheme called velib'. Stations apparently every 300 metres across Paris put thousands of bikes at the disposal of commuters. Just sign in, pick up, ride and drop off at the station nearest your destination. The best way to see the city, and cheap too (not a word I thought I would ever use in Paris). Great fun at 3am after that party instead of taking a taxi.

Brotherly Love

Shahnaz got married this weekend. Just before she went home for the first time with her new husband and his family - she started crying. Her big brother was there to comfort her. I had a lump in my throat when I took this picture...

Aerial

Almost as aerial as you can get in Paris without a helicopter. This is from the second floor on the Eiffel tower, looking down the Champs de Mars towards the Ecole Militaire. In the distance you can see the hideous Montparnasse tower. Wonder who got paid how much to let that get built, it stands out like a sore thumb over the restricted height buildings of Paris. The white and grey of the buildings carefully camouflage the skyline in the non-weather that seems to be characteristic of this 'summer' in Paris.

Food: Fresh to your door

Cold storage, GM and imported?? Never! Delivered to your door fresh from the farm...

Food: The Fromage

Nobody does cheese like the French, and no meal is complete without it, normally between main and dessert. What a selection! A treat to savour the great variety to be found in the little stinky fromagerie just down the road.

Chilling Paris Style

Catching some sun next to the Seine seems to be a popular summer pastime.

Transport: around in circles

A brave man to take on the étoile at Place Charles de Gaulle in a Limo, I guess he has a lot more momentum. Pick a direction, any direction...
